As you may be aware Stratfield Mortimer Parish Council are constructing a footway from Mortimer to Burghfield Common within the Common/wooded areas linking the two villages. West Berkshire Councils Term Maintenance Contractor, Volker Highways, will soon be starting pedestrian crossing improvements at Three Firs roundabout. Improvements include constructing of staggered dropped crossings with a central island, vegetation removal/cutting back and new signing. This will join the new path from Mortimer to the fottway in Reading Road, Burghfield Common providing for the first time a safe pedestrian link between villages useable in all weathers.
